This pen resembles a time capsule relic, showing no notable signs of wear whatsoever. No dents, dings, or brassing. Even the edge of the section overlay has hardly any wear (just a touch on the underside). Indicia on barrel has been left blank. Manufacturer imprint on the barrel is deep and fully legible. You’d be hard pressed to find a nicer example. Note: tines of the nib have a factory \"scoop\" behind the iridium similar to some Parkers and Wahls. Sprague Bar. Their first fountain pen was made c.1878 and their Swan pens date back to c.1890. By the 1920s their production was divided between New York and England, their English pens vying with Conway Stewart for supremacy among British pens. This pen was made in Mabie Todd’s New York factory. It’s made of hard rubber with a gold-filled overlay that’s engraved in a checker pattern composed of vertical lines with double sets of horizontal rings to accent the plain ends of the barrel and cap. 1915 patent date stamped on the clip and “Swan Pen \/ Mabie Todd \u0026amp; Co.
