This example shows no such flaws. This pen has \u003cstrong\u003eno cracks\u003c\/strong\u003e (not even surface crazing or the beginnings of hairlines), \u003cstrong\u003eno chips, and no personalizations\u003c\/strong\u003e. The color is an evenly vibrant yellow across the barrel and cap (no signs of discoloration). The only notable flaws on this pen are two 1\/4”-long scratches on either side of the Lucky Curve banner that’s part of barrel imprint. Other than that, the surface is smooth and lustrous with no deep scratches or other serious blemishes – just 3 pin-sized marks on the cap and a couple of 1\/8”-long scratches on the barrel, all of which polished out smooth but are still visible due to the light color of this pen. These blemishes are minor but have been factored into the price. Gold-plated trim is pristine with no brassing or other notable flaws aside from the typical sliver of plating wear on the clip ball. BHR parts are factory black with sharp knurling. Manufacturer imprint on barrel is deep and fully legible, showing only slight weakening to the LC banner. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDetails\u003c\/strong\u003e: Before the term ‘grail’ gained currency online to refer common, if often pricey, pens one desired most of all, vintage collectors reserved it for highly desirable pens in their focus that were virtually impossible to acquire. One would have to frequent pen shows steadfastly for years, follow leads that turned out to be dead-ends, and pray to the pen gods that that grail would miraculously appear before you at any price. Owing to its untimely appearance, short production run, and notorious fragility, the Mandarin Yellow Duofold remains one of the hallowed grails of vintage pendom. Its grail-status was cemented by a limited edition reproduction, which Parker introduced in 1995. That reproduction is quite sought after in its own right. There even were many imitators of this pen manufactured by other makers in the 1920s-30s. This pen is the original. It’s made of Permanite (DuPont’s proprietary celluloid) in Mandarin Yellow complemented by gold-plated trim and knurled black hard rubber blind cap and clip lock. Double cap bands and black barrel threads point to 1928 manufacture.
