Vintage: 1910s
Make: Parker
Model: Jack-Knife Safety 20 1/2
Color: Black
Materials: Black chased hard rubber, nickel trim
Filling System: Button filler (resacced and guaranteed to fill to factory capacity). To fill simply unscrew the blindcap, submerse the nib, and depress the metal button once.
Length: This full-sized model measures 5 3/16” capped.
Nib: 14k Parker Lucky Curve Banner #2 nib with teardrop breather hole is a Super-Flexible writer. It lays down a smooth and consistent XF line that widens to a 4B+ (approx 2.5mm) under light pressure. Thin hairlines, strong snap-back, and reliable flow over its full range of flex together make it an excellent choice for calligraphic writing styles such as Copperplate and Spencerian.
Condition: Hard rubber retains its dark black color with virtually no fading. Chasing and knurling is evenly deep and sharp with little wear. HR surface is smooth and lustrous with no deep scratches or other notable flaws. Manufacturer imprint on barrel is deep and fully legible as is the cap imprint aside from minor weakening to the end of ‘Knife’.
Details: Manufactured roughly 3 decades after the company was founded in 1888, this early Parker features a Safety cap (imprinted "Jack-Knife Safety" with a 1912 patent date) designed not to leak when carried ([DETAIL PHOTO](https://imgur.com/xvh8knh)). Early, protuberant barrel-threads indicate 1910s manufacture. It's made of chased black hard rubber with a nickel-plated clip. Some of these have a ‘2 1/2’ or ‘20 1/2’ stamped on the blindcap but, like many early variants, this one has no stamp.
