Nib: Flexible 14k Conklin Toledo nib lays down a smooth and consistent XXF line that widens to a 3B+ (approx 1.8mm) under moderate pressure

Condition: Near mint. The vast majority of these crop up with some discoloration, even if it’s just ambering to the ends. This rare exception has pristine color: 10/10 with no discoloration whatsoever. Gold-plated trim is also immaculate with no brassing or other notable flaws. Celluloid has a smooth, lustrous surface with no deep scratches or other noteworthy blemishes - scarcely even any microscratches. Manufacturer imprint on the cap is factory deep and fully legible. One would be hard pressed to find a nicer example of this pen.

Details: The Endura Symetrik was a response to the growing fashion of symmetrically streamlined pens in the late 20s, popularized by Sheaffer's Balance (see #5 below). It was essentially an Endura with a facelift. By the time the Symetrik debuted, Conklin had traded hard rubber for Pyroxilin as their preferred material, expanding the color selection to an array of eye-catching patterns. This example features one of the most striking and uncommon color patterns: Jade with black veins. The contrast between the black veins and the finer white streaks in the Jade is downright stunning in person. Because this color was made in smaller numbers and Jade was so prone to conspicuous discoloration, undiscolored examples like this one are incredibly tough to find today. Gold-plated trim with double cap bands, Conklin’s signature lever, and ring top in the cap’s crown designed to attach to a chatelaine or pocket chain. Gold sparkle crescent embedded in the cap above the clip signified Conklin’s lifetime guarantee while hearkening back to the Crescent-Filler – the pen that first put Conklin on the map.
