Vintage: 1937
Make: Parker
Model: Vacumatic Standard (1st generation)
Color: Silver Pearl (with transparent barrel striations)
Materials: Celluloid, nickel-plated trim
Filling System: Vacumatic lockdown filler (fully restored and guaranteed to fill to capacity with no leaks or other problems)
Length: This full-length, std. girth, 1st-generation model measures 5 1/16” capped.
Nib: Two-tone Vac arrow nib, stamped “Made in USA,” is likely from an earlier US-made Vac Standard c.1933 or Vacuum Filler. It lays down a smooth and consistent XF/F line.
Condition: The majority of 1st-gen Silver Pearl Vac Standards show discoloration of the grey barrel striations to a green/brown color. By contrast, the color of this example is superb retaining its original grey throughout. Nickel-plated trim shows no brassing or other notable flaws – just some microscratches on the blind cap tassie when viewed from the end that don’t penetrate the plating. Celluloid surface is smooth and lustrous with no deep scratches or other noteworthy blemishes. Excellent barrel clarity of an orange color with ink level readily visible when filled. Manufacturer imprint and date code on barrel show light wear to the edges of a few letters but are still fully legible.
Details: A classic Vac with the deluxe features of the first generation, including two-tone nib and striped double jewels. Note that 1st-gen Standard models have a larger girths and gripping sections than do Majors. This pen has a Canadian imprint on the barrel, which jibes with its black hard rubber section (distinctive of 1st-gen Canadian Vacs).
