Vintage: 1939
Make: Parker Model: Vacumatic Senior Maxima
Color: Silver Pearl
Materials: Celluloid, nickel-plated trim
Filling System: Vacumatic Speedline (diaphragm replaced and section sealed with rosin-based sealant. Fills to capacity without leaks). To fill one removes the blindcap, submersed the nib, and depresses the metal plunger until the barrel is full.
Length: This oversized, 2nd-generation model has a thick girth and measures 5 5/16” capped.
Nib: 14k Two-Tone Vac Maxima arrow nib lays down a buttery smooth and consistent XF line.
Condition: This one would grade as near mint were it not for a bit of trim wear, which has been factored into the price. There is brassing to the cap band along the bottom edge on the front of cap and extending 2/3 up the band on the backside of the cap. There is also brassing along the edge of the blind cap tassie and some wear to the rhodium plating on the right side of the nib. Other than that this pen is quite clean. Clip shows no brassing or other notable wear. Celluloid surface has a smooth lustrous finish with no deep scratches or other noteworthy blemishes – scarcely even any microscratches. Excellent transparency of an orange color. Manufacturer imprint and date code on the barrel are deep and fully legible.
Details: The Vac Sr Max is getting tougher to find. Wide chevron cap band and double striped jewels. Blue diamond clip signifying Parker’s lifetime guarantee.
