Vintage: 1943
Make: Parker
Model: Vacumatic Major
Color/Pattern: Emerald Pearl
Materials: Celluloid, gold-plated trim
Filling System: Vacumatic filler (diaphragm replaced and guaranteed to fill and write as designed without leaks). Vacumatic fillers are something of a specialty of mine and I take pride in the amount of attention I devote to each. Any dried/coagulated ink is removed from feed channels. All remnants of thread sealant and ossified diaphragms are cleaned away. Threads are meticulously chased. Interiors of barrels are cleaned and polished to remove ink staining and restore transparency. Sections are sealed against leaks using a rosin-based thread sealant.
Length: This standard-sized 3rd-generation model measures 5 1/8” capped.
Nib: 14k Vac Arrow nib lays down a smooth and consistent XF line.
Condition: Gold-plated trim is virtually pristine with no brassing or other notable flaws. Celluloid surface is smooth and lustrous with no deep scratches or other notable blemishes - scarcely even any microscratches! Excellent barrel transparency of a yellow color. Manufacturer imprint and date code on barrel are deep and fully legible.
Details: The Major was a step up from the Junior, having more generous trim and carrying Parker's lifetime guarantee. This is an example in Emerald Pearl celluloid with transparent barrel striations. Gold-plated Blue Diamond clip, chevron cap band, and black cap jewel.
