Vintage: 1950s

Make: Pilot

Model: Super 200

Color/Pattern: Black

Materials: Plastic, gold-filled trim

Filling System: Switch filler (resacced and guaranteed to fill and write as designed). To fill, one simply unscrews the barrel, submerses the nib, and flips the turquoise knob at the back of the filling unit to engage a pressure bar that depresses the sac inside.

Length: This standard-sized model measures 5 1/4” capped

Nib: 14k Pilot nib that writes like something from the early 20th century. Yielding Super-Flexible variation with Flexible softness, it lays down a smooth and consistent XF line that widens to a 4B+ (approx 2.0mm) under moderate pressure.

Condition: Gold-filled trim is clean with no brassing or other notable flaws aside from a few pin-sized points of wear on the cap band and clip tassie/jewel. Plastic has a smooth and lustrous surface with no deep scratches or other notable blemishes. Manufacturer imprint on the barrel is deep and fully legible.

Details: From a Western perspective, the Pilot Super is like having a Parker 51 with a more interesting nib selection. Like a 51, this pen has a clutch-activated cap for easy uncapping and a partially hooded or inlaid nib. It’s made of black plastic with gold-filled trim (marked ‘R14k’ on the back of the wide cap band for *rolled 14k*, another name for gold-filled). Double black jewels with gold-filled tassies like a double-jeweled 51.
