Length: This oversized model has a thick girth and measures 5 3/8” capped. 

Nib: Commensurably oversized 14k Ideal NY #5 nib lays down a rigid yet smooth and consistent XF/F line.

Condition: This pen is cosmetically *rough* but usable. First, the good: hard rubber parts are clean. They’re factory black with no oxidation or other notable blemishes. As it came to me, however, this pen’s cap did not screw on properly. At some point in its past, I suspect someone tried to correct this but wound up leaving deep gouges all the way around the center of the cap overlay. Note that the cap is not out of round in this area, just deeply scratched. There wasn’t much I could do about these gouges, but I *was* able to get the cap to screw down smoothly. *However, it only holds securely if one applies a bit of pressure to press the barrel into the cap while screwing it in.* In addition, there is one notable ding near the bottom of the barrel overlay beneath the blank indicia (see timestamp photo) and the captop has lost 1/3 of the lip that originally covered it (see ends photo). Note that the endcap is still securely fixed inside the cap with no play or movement. Lastly, this pen’s lever was missing, so I replaced it with a nickel lever from a BHR Waterman 55, which fills the pen smoothly to capacity as designed. All of these flaws are factored into the price. A rare pen, deeply wounded then brought back from the dead to be put into service some 110 years after it made its debut. 

Details: This pen predates the 455/55, as indicated by its protuberant barrel threads and ‘415 PSF’ (pocket self-filler) stamp on the barrel-end, which can still be made out faintly.
